Basic training for healthcare professionals, focused on recognition and rapid intervention in emergency situations in both in- and out-of-hospital settings.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)

PROGRAM

  • 1 or 2-rescuer CPR

  • CPR in adults, children and infants

  • Ventilation technique in adults, children and infants

  • High-Performing Teams

  • Use of an AED in adults, children and infants

  • Choking Victim Intervention Technique

  • Recognition and Response to Other Life-Threatening Emergencies (Chest Pain, Stroke, Anaphylaxis, and Opioid Use)

CERTIFICATION

  • Valid for 1 year
     

  • Recognized throughout Canada
     

  • CME/CPD credits available

DURATION

  • Classic Format: Instructor-led in a classroom: between 3.5 and 4 hours

     

  • Hybrid format (classroom and online) : 2 hours in the classroom (the online portion must be completed at your own pace prior to the classroom portion)

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  • Immediate Resuscitation Care Provider Manual*
     

  • *Electronic version can be offered by APEX upon registration and payment of the course
